Norethisterone Tablets

  • June 27, 2020November 18, 2022
  • by admin

Norethisterone is a man-made form of progesterone, a naturally occurring female sex hormone and is used for a number of reasons. It cannot be used as hormone replacement therapy (HRT). Medium-strength tablets can treat heavy periods and are even used for some female cancers, such as breast cancer.

How does it work?

Norethisterone tablets can be taken three times daily to delay periods. Start tablets at least 3 days before the start of a period and continue for as long as needed. A period bleed will normally start 2 to 3 days, and possibly longer, after stopping Norethisterone. As a woman’s hormone balance changes during a menstrual cycle, taking Norethisterone tablets during menstruation will delay a period.

Norethisterone should not be used by women taking the contraceptive pill. Consult your GP or contraception specialist about delaying periods whilst taking contraceptives. Norethisterone is NOT a contraceptive and will not prevent pregnancy.

Norethisterone is only designed to be taken occasionally and should not be requested more than once every 4 months. If you need to delay a period for more than 17 days, you should consult your GP.

Are there any side effects?

All medications are prone to causing side effects and you’re more likely to suffer them if you take Norethisterone long-term, but the most common side effects are:

  • Bloating
  • Breast tenderness
  • Loss of libido
  • Fluid retention worsening pre-existing migraine
  • High blood pressure
  • Epilepsy
  • Jaundice (yellowing of the skin due to liver disease)

In rare cases, Norethisterone can cause a severe allergic reaction that can, in some instances, be life-threatening. Early symptoms of this include difficulty breathing, wheezing, feeling faint, swelling of the tongue or face, intense and itchy skin rash, and swelling of the hands and feet.

Otomize Ear Spray

  • August 14, 2020November 9, 2021
  • by admin

Otomize is indicated for the treatment of inflammation and infection of the external part of the ear.

How to use Otomize

Otomize is a suspension that is sprayed directly into the external part of the ear only. To prepare the spray for use, depress the pump a few times until a fine mist is expelled (spray away from others). Ensure the tip of the nozzle is always attached when delivering a dose. When ready, with the nozzle tip in your ear, depress the pump once.

Each depression of the pump delivers a measured (metered) dose. The usual dose is one metered dose administered to the affected ear(s) three times a day, continued up to and for two days after the infection has cleared. If there is no improvement after 7 days, or if the infection worsens, stop using Otomize and see your doctor.

Priligy Tablets

  • July 20, 2020November 9, 2021
  • by admin

Priligy for Premature ejaculation

The active ingredient in Priligy is dapoxetine. It works by changing the levels of a chemical in the brain called serotonin. Increases in serotonin levels, in turn, delay ejaculation.

After a single tablet, Priligy will reach maximum levels in 1 to 2 hours, and only 5% will be in the circulation after 24 hours.

Priligy is similar to some antidepressant medications, but it works more quickly and remains in the body for less time. Some men taking some antidepressants complain they have delayed ejaculation as a side effect. Priligy when taken for premature ejaculation is not an antidepressant, even though it has similarities in the way it works.

Directions

Priligy tablets are for men 18 to 64 years only. Priligy tablets are not licensed for use in older men.

The starting dose is one 30mg tablet 1 to 3 hours before intercourse. The dose can be increased to one 60mg tablet, as required, providing the 30mg dose has been well tolerated (no significant side effects are experienced).

Priligy tablets can be taken with or without food. Tablets should be swallowed whole.

Do not take daily on a regular basis, or repeat a dose within 24 hours.

Side Effects

Priligy can, in some men, cause a reduction in blood pressure with dizziness and even blackouts. Men who feel light-headed should sit with their head between their knees or lie down until symptoms resolve. They should take no further tablets without consulting a doctor. Increasing from a 30mg tablet to a 60mg would be inadvisable.

Propecia Tablets

  • July 20, 2020November 9, 2021
  • by admin

What is Propecia / Finasteride?

Finasteride is used in the treatment of male pattern baldness. It is the generic version of the well-known hair loss treatment, Propecia. Finasteride works by preventing testosterone being converted to the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which allows the hair follicles to regain their normal size. Studies have shown Finasteride 1mg can increase hair growth, and can also improve how people think their hair looks. In most cases, men will either regrow or no longer lose more hair.

It can take 3 to 6 months of treatment with Finasteride 1mg before hair regrowth is seen. The balding process usually resumes within six to 12 months if treatment is stopped. Side effects for Finasteride 1mg are uncommon. Less than one in 100 men who take Finasteride 1mg experience a loss in sexual appetite (libido) or erectile dysfunction.

Finasteride Results

While effectiveness varies from patient to patient, clinical studies have shown that after 5 years of use, 90% of men taking Finasteride will either have more hair, or the same amount of hair as they had at the start of treatment. In comparison, only 25% of men who did not take Finasteride has more or the same amount of hair.

It will usually take at least 2 months for you to notice an effect from taking Finasteride. Hair regrowth can occur for up to 2 years after starting the medication.

Sildenafil Tablets

  • July 25, 2020November 9, 2021
  • by admin

During sexual arousal blood flow in the penis changes. It is this change in blood flow which produces erections. Sildenafil is known medically as a PDE5 inhibitor. PDE5 inhibitors alter the levels of the natural chemical messengers involved in producing erections.

Sildenafil is a tried and tested medicine. Most men find it an effective treatment and are not usually troubled by significant side effects. It usually starts to work within 30 minutes of taking a tablet, and usually remains active for about 4 hours. Erections will only occur during this time if there is stimulation. If there is no arousal, there will be no erection. After 4 hours the effects of the tablet wear off.

How to take Sildenafil

The normal starting dose, in men who have not taken Sildenafil before, is one 50mg tablet. Subsequent doses can be adjusted up to a maximum of 100mg as a single dose, or down to 25mg, depending on response. Most men find 50mg sufficient. Sildenafil should not be taken more than once in 24 hours.

The effects of treatment may not be exactly the same each time. It is best to take the same dose that worked previously, increasing the dose only if on several occasions treatment is not successful.

Tadalafil Daily

  • July 25, 2020November 9, 2021
  • by admin

Men who anticipate sexual activity twice a week or more may find that a low-dose (2.5mg or 5mg) Tadalafil tablet taken every day, at the same time of day, more suited to their needs.

Tadalafil has a 36-hour duration of action after which the amount of the drug left in the body is no longer considered effective. A low daily dose taken every 24 hours will build-up to a continuous effective concentration in the blood.

The benefit of this is sexual activity can be more spontaneous, requiring less forward planning.

Tadalafil Daily Dosing

  • Take with water at the same time of day.
  • Start with 5mg Tadalafil, adjust to 2.5mg if necessary.
  • Allow a day or more for the drug concentration to build-up in your body.
  • 2.5mg or 5mg Tadalafil only are suitable for a daily regime – do not take 10mg or 20mg tadalafil on a daily basis.
  • May be taken with or without food.
  • Avoid grapefruit juice and excessive alcohol.

Tadalafil Tablets

  • July 25, 2020November 9, 2021
  • by admin

Tadalafil/generic Cialis, like other erectile dysfunction tablet treatments such as Viagra and Levitra, works by changing the way blood flows in the penis during sexual stimulation.

The changes in blood flow improves erections. These medicines achieve this effect by blocking an enzyme called PDE5. They are PDE5 inhibitors. These medicines have very little effect in other parts of the body. Tablet treatments for erectile dysfunction augment and support sexual performance and relationships.

Taking tadalafil / generic Cialis for the first time

Tadalafil tablets come in four strengths – 2.5mg, 5mg, 10mg, and 20mg. Most men take a 10mg or 20mg tablet when they need it. The lower doses of 2.5mg and 5mg are usually for daily use, although some men may find a single 5mg tablet taken on an occasional basis is all they need.

The normal starting dose is a single 10mg tablet taken 30 minutes before sexual activity. Repeated trials of treatment at one dose are recommended before changing to higher or lower strength tablets. There is no benefit in taking a higher dose than is needed. Tadalafil should not be taken at the same time or within 36 hours of other erectile dysfunction treatments.

Vardenafil Tablets

  • July 25, 2020November 9, 2021
  • by admin

During sexual arousal, the penis becomes erect because as it fills with blood. To become erect the penile blood vessels need to dilate (expand) and the muscle relax. This process relies on a chemical called nitric oxide.

Vardenafil belongs to a group of drugs called phosphodiesterase inhibitors (PDE5 inhibitors). PDE5 inhibitors exert their effects by increasing levels of nitric oxide within penile tissues.

Vardenafil provides an alternative choice for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. Studies have shown Vardenafil is safe and effective, and usually works well to improve erections and overall sexual performance.

Side effects are possible with all the PDE5 inhibitors but these are no more common with Vardenafil than with any of the others.

Vardenafil needs to be taken around 30-60 minutes before sexual intercourse, and is effective for around 4-5 hours. It will not work without any sexual stimulation.
